I didn't mean to, but this is what happened....He bought me an IPod touch for Valentines and usually I will keep my mouth shut and not say anything, but since they are like $200 when DH asked me this year if I liked my gift I was honest with him and told him it was a great gift, but not something I would use especially since he just bought me the kindle fire for Christmas.
I didn't mean to make him upset and usually i will just tell him I love the gift instead, but I knew I would not use the ipod touch and that is alot of money for something i won't use so I was honest with him..
***EDIT***I normally would have just kept quiet, but 200 is alot of money especially when money is tight right now and I really would have never used the Ipod touch so to me that is alot of money to waste on something I wouldn't use....I did tell him thank you and that it was a great gift and I appreciated the fact he put thought and effort in to it, but after him spending all that money I didn't think it was fair to him to lie and then never end up using it.
:( that sucks. But at least you were honest. My DF would rather I be honest with him than lie.
I felt bad after that. Lol
I would of told him. Then asked him if he wanted to return it and use the $200 to do something together, such as a night at the hotel with no kids....
I don't think it's terrible to be honest. You appreciate the thought, but if you really aren't going to use an expensive gift, I would rather someone spoke up. My dh does the opposite and always tells me it's great even if he doesn't like it... this has led to me buying him plenty of clothes that sit in the closet because they're not quite his taste. I would honestly rather he just tell me he wants to exchange the shirt than leave it in the closet gathering dust... I'm a SAHM, my part-time work is very sporadic, I have student loans, and don't have money to spend on something that isn't getting used!
