Is there anything I can do?

Every since last night, there has been a cat walking around outside my house whining and crying. It sounds like a baby crying and its really sad. I have no idea what's wrong with it and I feel bad. Is there anything I can do? What could be wrong with her/him?

Unfortunately there probably isn't anything you can do for the cat. Sounds like she's in heat.

Does it not have an owner?

I don't know. I've never seen it before yesterday.

Maybe it's lost. I know nothing about cat. Sorry :( I might offer him/her some milk. But then he/she would frequent your house. My husband's grandma did that and before long she had 2 cats 'visiting' for snack almost everyday :D

She even put a kind of box with blanket inside at her veranda for cold weather so cats could stay a little warmer.

Don't do anything unless you never want it to leave your house again.

Sounds like she is in heat and looking for a mate.
