I have a 13 1/2 y/o DD. She is very responsible. She has her own "job" walking her teachers dog, is always on the honor roll, does really well in band, helps me around the house quite a bit, etc...... So I have been letting her color her hair. Actually she picks the color and I do it. She has been really blonde, had blonde highlights in her medium blonde (natural color) hair. It always turns out pretty good. Before Christmas she wanted blue so I pur blue in her hair. Well a few days ago she wanted to change it up with pink. So it is now half pink and she loves it! Just wanted to know if any other mommas allow their kids freedom with their hair. Her dad and I figure it will always grow back or fade out so why not. My son has also had mohawks of various sizes since he was like 4.

This is his hair at the moment. We just had it recut

This is his hair 2 years ago

This is her trying her outfit on for her 12th Bday party (original hair color)

This past Christmas

Valentines' Day dance last night

I liked the blue.... Not the pink. Sorry... It just looks bad. She's beautiful though. :)

Yep. Our 15 year olds hair is currently black with purple highlights. Haircolor is not an argument I'm willing to have. It's just hair. As long as she behaves and does her stuff she can do whatever she wants with her hair

My middle ds dyed his blonde hair black, in 8th grade.   He looked like Elvis :-(    He was the only one.  My dd started making her blonde hair, more blonde, in college.

How did you do the ends? My DD (10) would LOVE IT! I allow all the kids to do whatever they want with their hair with the exception of bleaching for the younger two. Last summer the girls had blue (13), pink (10), and purple (8). My son (16) has had red, blond, tips, whatever. It's hair. Oh, and I haven't let them put glue extensions in yet. They have a variety of clips they use. I would love the trick to the dipped ends though. We have a four-day weekend coming up and I could do my DD's. BTW, both kidsare adorable :).

Agreed.  My 2 oldest boys grew their hair long, in hs.   It's just hair, not an arguement I'm willing to have.

Dd is only 6 now but she see me color my hair so she asks, maybe at 13 I'd she's mature enough ill let her... She gets 1 pink bonded extention in her hair for breast cancer in October but that's all... Her school doesn't allow different colors so she can't do anything crazy.

I will when she is older. My mom let me start coloring mine when I was 12 because I got picked on for having grey hair.
