I know this may sound awful to someone who is bad with credit cards, but it's wise to have a few open with some type of transaction history on it. You just have to be vigilant about paying on time and not exceeding 30% of the credit limit.

You can get one that you put money on. You pay $200 or so and that is your credit limit on the card. Spend some money on it and when you get the bill, pay it all off. Repeat this over and over and they'll raise the credit limit, but it'll be their dime, you won't have to give that money up front. Just keep using it (pay a bill, buy gas, buy groceries, etc) and keep the money in your checking account to cover the bill when it comes. Pay it off every month (not monthly payments) and it'll boost your credit score.

I couldnt get another one of those if i tried too. I had 2 when i was 18(almost 7 yrs ago) that are delinquent and charge offs. Everyone keeps telling me to let the statue of limitations run on them because they'll be 7 yrs old this December but idk how i feel about that.

"Let us therefore make every effort to do what leads to peace and to mutual edification" Romans 14:19

Ask a trusted family member to add you as an authorized user to their card. You won't get to use it, your name is just on there. I did this for my sister and her score rose almost right away.

I was revently watching Suze Orman - and she said that if you use a pre-paid credit card, to make sure it is from a company that reports to one one of the 3 big credit companies, or it's all for naught.
