Dont get me wrong, I love my husband dearly. He is wonderful and I really should not complain BUT..............when I was basically blind and in bed for 10 days the past few weeks he fed the kids McDonalds and pizza every night. I just found out. I was upstairs in bed most of the time and could not eat much as the meds really affected my appetitite. I make a monthly menu and follow it to a T. I knew he would have trouble with some meals, but not all of them. I am going to be teaching him to cook in case this ever happens again.

Sounds like something my hubby would do. He knows how to cook, just hates to do it. Right before our second daughter was born, I froze a weeks worth of dinners for him to pop in the oven every night until I was able to cook again after my c-section.

Ehhh, it doesn't happen often and he did the best he could. He probably felt overwhelmed with you out of the equation. I would let it slide.

Yeah, I'd be mad too- we don't do alot of fast food. My kids would be getting sick for sure. That just sounds gross!

I'd get some of the Alton Brown Good Eats cookbooks.  They're written in a very "guy friendly" way that may help your husband out if he has to take over meal planning again.  Plus, it's just good, basic food - nothing fancy or terribly expensive.

I honestly figured he would do sandwiches or soup or something. Normally he is pretty cheap.

That's not healthy at all. He could've made them some sandwiches or boiled some water for some spaghetti or something simple like that. It would have been better than fast food for that long.

I only found out because my very picky 12 yr old was so excited when I told him I was making homemade chicken strips (oven backed yummy). He made a comment about it being so good to not have McDonalds. Now this kid claims that is the only food he needs to survive, so I started asking him questions and he said daddy got Happy Meals and Tygers Pizza every night. I am not mad about, just shocked.
