If you wear slutty clothes, do you ask to be raped?

This is from the slut walk. One of the arguments is that girls ask for rape because they wear slutty clothes, short skirts, tight, low-cut tops. This girl is an example of the fact that rape victims can look like anyone, you, me, this girl. Rapists. Dont. Discriminate.

I promised a long time ago that I’d reblog this whenever I saw it on my dash. No regrets, it breaks my heart every single time.

an incredibly important message, rape is rape. no one is ever asking for it. a woman has the right to dress how ever they want - it is society that identifies risque dressing as ‘asking for it’, and in my opinion, that way of thinking needs to be diminished.

always reblog

That way of thinking shouldn’t be diminished: it should be destroyed."

No woman EVER asks for rape.

Whatever a woman is wearing, she isn't asking for sex unless she asks for it literally!!

A rape victim is never to blame.

Victim blaming disgusts me. I just got into it with my brother in law last week while out at the mall for pointing to a girl dressed in a way that- in his words- was asking to get herself into some hot water. I.E... raped. And I lost my shit on that boy. Idgaf who you are, saying shit like that is not okay.

You're absolutely right, rapists don't discriminate. And more people need to be aware of this, as it obviously hasn't sunk in because we still have douchecanoes making comments that a girl is asking to be raped if she's dressed provocatively. Reminds me of this video:

I've seen the pic of that girl on my dash before and, like you, it breaks my heart every time. Someday I hope to be a part of that walk :)

I hate posts like this.  Of COURSE a woman SHOULD be able to wear what they want without risk of being raped.  And for the majority of rapists, what you're wearing doesn't matter.  For a few, it does though.  Idc what the girl was wearing, Idc if she was dancing on a pole, naked, or in a wet t shirt contest, she does NOT deserve it.  But she IS putting herself more at risk.

While I do think that if you're going to dress in a way that shows off all your junk, you should expect to get stares.. I would never, EVER say someone asked to be raped because of the way they dress. Rape happens to women young and old, attractive and not, dressed in many different ways. No one ever asks to be raped.
