How is this over reacting????

My 2 year old fell and cut her mouth (again!) a little bit ago. This time she pretty much severed the little thingy that ties her top lip to her gums. I got the bleeding stopped pretty quickly (for a mouth cut), but I figured it was worth a call to the doctor. So I call, and very calmly explain what happened, and asked if it's something that will heal on it's own, or if it needs stitches. The physician's assistant says "Look, there is no need to over react! That's just a minor injury, and as long as you got the bleeding stopped, she'll be fine!" How, may I ask, was it over reacting for me to call (not go visit, or go to the ER) and ask if my daughter needed to be seen for that? I mean, for pete's sake! She severed something!! I think half the moms I know would be rushing their kid to the ER for that!!

Every 6 months, maybe. I think this is the 2nd time I've called at all about my 2 year old. And only a couple times for my 4 year old.

Don't over-analyze something a person says over the phone....Who knows where her head was at the time of the call.

I don't get why people say that.  I called an ambulance as a kid for my dad and was completely calm about it and the dispatcher was freaking out on the other end and telling me to calm down.  I was like WTF???

I would overreact to 10th power if that happened to my kiddo.

Wow. Maybe the dispatcher just assumed that since you were a kid, you'd be freaking out??

I always do too, but only after I get it "fixed". lol. Unfortunately, Hannah tends to cut her mouth open a LOT. I think in the past month alone, she's had a bloody mouth at least a half dozen times.

They're allowed to give medical advice over the phone?
