I just came back from my OB/ gyn and from getting lab work. My hemoglobin is incredibly low, as is my ferratin levels, among other things. My Dr. said that I need a transfusion. I am not interested. I don't do other people's blood, plasma, organs, donating.... more power to those that give and receive. It isn't for me though.

So, is there anything that I can do to elevate these levels myself?

He prescribed iron pills, but we have yet to find an iron pill that I can keep down.

What is your objection to blood products? Did you discuss alternatives with your doc?

Have you tried slow fi iron? It's slow release iron? It might help. Red meat, green veggies will help too.
