Does anyone have a Dachshund??

What are they like? They easy to train? Good with kids? Any info wold be helpful!

We had a Doxie. He was the best dog ever. He was really great with my kids he was the sweetest. Ours was pretty smart, and very easy to train. They are prone to back problems (reason we had to put ours down). I am wanting to get another one. I can't imagine having another breed.

We did until we moved into a place that didnt allow pets..oscar was great w/ my son! He got him for his 4th bday..instant best friends! They loooove to play fetch! :)

Yes!!  He is great with the kids.  When we first got him, he was already house trained, but he is amazing with the kids.  They can be annoying, and in his face, but he is very patient with them.  He is snuggly, and awesome.  No guard dog though, lmao.

Thanks! He loves my daughter. He comes when calls already! That is more than what my other dog does lol

Thanks! I saw that they like to do that. I will go and get some balls and stuff for him today.

Ours loved to chew on things. Make sure he has plenty of his own toys to play with/chew on.

We have one. Her name is Tina and she is a Mini Dachshund. We got really lucky with her. She is awesome. She is wonderful with my three kids. They can hold her, dress her, play with her and not once has she growled or bit them. She is a cuddler, very loving, and she was also very easy to train. We adopted her from the shelter.

Really my SO thinks we will make a great guard dog. We have a American bulldog and he makes a sucky guard dog lol everyone is his friend.

We had to use rubber ones because he liked to pull the fuzz of tennis balls! Awe! Such cute lil dogs! I miss ours now :(

Before I adopted Tina, I had a long haired Dachshund named Oscar. He died though :(

I cried all afternoon yesterday thinking about him.
