My daughter turned 3 in December. At her 3 yr check-up her pediatrician told me that she was old enough to have her first dental appointment. So, I asked around and quite a few people referred me to a dentral office in my area. I called to set up the appointment and while I was on the phone with the receptionist, she was telling me about their office.
She said that they normally don't allow the parent to go back with the child, but since my daughter was so young I would be able to go back with her. It really freaks me out knowing that eventually I won't be able to go back with her. I'm wondering if I should go ahead and cancel this appt. and find a dentist office that will always allow me to go back with her.......your thoughts? Is your childs dental office like this? Are you always able to go back with them?
I went back with my boys the first couple of times. Then they went on their own.

Is it there policy, or just something you chose to do?
My kids have been going to the dentist since they were infants, at around three or four we stopped using the conference rooms for our appointments and they started going in the back, into the treatment area, by themselves. I've never worried but there are hundreds of people in and out of there, it's a very busy office.
I would never go to an office that does not allow the parent back. Most do.
i abslutely would find another office that would allow me to go back there...
