A Washington state sheriff and his sergeant purchased burial plots to prevent Josh Powell's family from having him buried next to his two sons.

"The bottom line is, Josh Powell will not be near those two boys," Pierce County Sheriff's Sgt. Ed Troyer said in an interview with Seattle radio's Ron and Don Show.

Powell's remaining relatives wanted him buried near sons Charlie and Braden, who died when Powell blew up his home on Feb. 5, according to MSNBC.

Troyer, who used his personal money to buy the burial plots with Sheriff Paul Pastor, then Tweeted, "Crime Stoppers just purchased the cemetery plots next to the Powell boys. We own the plots on both sides of the single grave the boys are in."

Powell's relatives had visited the Woodbine Cemetery and selected a plot about 25 feet from where the boys were laid to rest, City Manager Ralph Dannenberg told the Associated Pres.

Charlie, 7, and Braden, 5 – the sons of Josh and missing wife Susan – were celebrated in a memorial service in front of more than 1,500 people on Saturday.

"For [Josh] to be buried near those kids is just unthinkable," Anne Bremmer, the lawyer of Susan's parents Charles and Judy Cox, told the Associated Press. "For god's sake, for them to lose Susan first, and then the boys, and now this? Just give these people a break."

Personally to me it's just an empty shell. Who cares where it's buried.

Good, why should those poor boys have to lay for eternity next to the asshole they called daddy, that could do such a awful unspeakable things to his children! I know they have passes and it is just their bodies but still morally to the families that is just so freaking wrong!!!

I agree it's wonderful that they did it. The thought of him being right next to them is sick!

I respect your opinion but, honestly, I would care. He did an unthinkable act against those precious children and I don't think he deserves to even be in the same cemetary as them.

Cool,

The did it legally and no silly lawsuit.  Sometimes people do the right things with their money.

It was the most respectful thing they could do for those boys.  If and when they find their mother, maybe she  could be laid to rest with her boys.
