A friend of mine has a 7 month old...she is 22lbs and like27inches long. Her daughter hates to be in the small seat...probably because of how big she is, but i asked her this morning if she has thought about switching her daughter to a bigger seat! she said i cant until she is one. i said why not, they have seats that you can keep reversed and that way you can get her out of the infant seat. then i mentioned how they reccomend keeping the rear facing until child is 2. Is this still the case. she said i have never heard of such a thing. why would they do that? she said most kids hate to be backwards. When this was all over the news and what not both of my kids were over two. DD was 4 and DS was 2.5. SO i never had to make that descision if i was going to keep them rear facing or not!! What do you all think?? im not trying to bash her..i just want to help her understand this!!

It's her child. As long as she is with in the law, you should butt out.

I forward faced both my kids at 1 year ...

But yes, they make convertible car seats that accomodate both rear facing and forward facing children. And, if I remember correctly, most infant seats only go up to 20 or 22 pounds, so if that's the case, your friend is going to need a convertible seat very soon whether she likes it or not.
