Have you read this?  When I first heard all the hype over this book I did not plan to read it. It is not my normal genre. I like romance and paranormal mostly. I have seen some negative reviews though. Some people seem to be upset about the author being a white woman writing about black women and some have a problem with the way the black characters were written. I an only on chapter 2. Just picked this book up last night from the library. So if you have read it what do you think?

It was a great book.  It was very true to the times.  The movie is also very good.  There is no reason to be upset because I white woman wrote it.  It's a book within a book so to speak.

I loved the book! I couldn't put it down and the characters stayed in my head for a long time. I cried at the end. I also enjoyed the movie, although the book was better and cried at the end of the movie too. Although fiction, I have no doubt there is a lot truth in it.

I read the book, then watched the movie, and now I'm reading the book again.  I love it.

I loved the book and the movie. I am not a historian or book critic though so I have the luxury of just getting swept away in the story.
