I was watching ESPN the other day, and the guys mentioned a football player named Arian Foster (pronounced Aryan).
Aryan:In Nazism and neo-Nazism, a non-Jewish Caucasian, especially one of Nordic type, supposed to be part of a master race.
Thought it was kind of odd this man was named this, because he is black. I definitely raised my eyebrows on that one.
Thoughts and opinions? Do you think whoever named him knew what his name might be taken as?

If being a stubborn, opinionated, educated, headstrong, beautiful woman makes me a b!tch, so be it.
Maybe they were just pronouncing it incorrectly.
Aryan is a form or Adrian.
It has both Latin and Sanskrit origins and I'm sure it was a name before it had any links with the Nazi party.
I think if he was white it would be very offensive, JMO.
Quoting BreefullyMe87:Maybe they just didn't care? The word as a name is kinda cool and unique sounding.
I don't think it makes a difference what the word means, because he is black. If he was white I'd probably raise my eyebrows and question the parents, though.
