Money in savings is so hot right now. Tell him that. He's HOT hot if he's got a little stashed away for a rainy day.

There's nothing wrong with having money in savings,I do it every week. When we do our taxes, that is where it ends up every year.I want to have that nice cushion for later in life.

You're not wrong in the least.  My DF wanted to try to buy a house.  His credit SUCKS!  So, I talked him into working on both of our credit ratings this year, and IF it's higher, we'll attempt to do it then.  We really need a reliable vehicle, so we're looking right now, and will buy one (outright, no payments) and put the rest up for emergencies.  It took me over a week to get him to go along with that though :|

not at all.  we talked it out and are putting the majority of ours into savings in case my job hunt continues to drag on (fingers crossed though, I have a second interview tomorrow, and two second interviews next week!).  I get to take some $$ off the top for new clothes for the office, but dh hasn't asked for a dime of it (and how nice - I didn't have to ask him, he told me we were getting me some work clothes).

I think it's smart to have a savings.....we've had $2500 worth of repairs and medical expenses come up in just the last 8 weeks...without a savings we would have had to use credit cards(which we hate to do.)

Definitely save it! It's a rainy day fund! We spent a lot of ours but what's left stays in savings.

No, you're not.  It looks like you're the only one thinking about the future.

Have you followed the 6 months rule? You should have enough to cover all of your expenses for at least 6 months in case something should happen. After you have saved that you can start saving in order to invest in small cd's or whatever has the best deal. Tell him that it is called grown up responsibility. Motorcycles do not fall into that category. So, you are not a bitch at all, you are just a grown up!
