It's weird to say "it" and "he" seems to be the go to pronoun. I think God is both male and female but there is no pronoun for that. It's cultural, I'm sure.

Pretty much. Everything else has male/female and I believe Gods do too. (Pagan type beliefs)

Because in the bible God is referred to as a father and as him.
