Soda consumption and addiction has long since been surrounded in controversy. I never gave the idea much credit that one could be addicted to soda. It's caffeine content yes, the same can be said about coffee. Recently I heard of a very interesting theory. Some are saying that it is not the soda itself but the CARBONATION that is the reason people crave their can of whatever. Apparently the carbonated bubbles explode on our tongue creating a very low grade pain. This reaction is sent to the brain where a sort of adrenaline is released to the pleasure center of our brain thus creating a slight feeling of euphoria. This is the reason why I have to have my diet root beer every night. Interesting, no?
I must also post a disclaimer so that I may prevent needless arguments. I read this information and then translated the info into ideas that made sense to me. I am posting here on the subject loosely worded from wherever I read it. I cannot remember where I read it, but I am sure it wouldn't be too hard to find out should someone want to refute it. Now I have to get back to my bubbles :)
Granted, what I read was from cracked.com, soooo....
