I over heard a lady at my daughter's school saying that people who are on welfare shouldn't be able to vote because they just vote for the laws that gets them the most money/stuff, not laws that benefit the country as a whole. She then went on to say if anyone heard her say this she would probably get fired then burnt at the stake. I nodded to myself LOL
I don't agree with her btw. I was just wondering how the world's most opinionated women feel about this.
I have heard this too many times to count. It's ignorant.
Quoting ejbljb:
Wow. So should rich people not be allowed to vote because they'll just vote for the people who will tax them the least??
Oh good point. No one can vote. Let the government make all the decisions. What an awesome country we would have then......lmao
I don't think it's as simple as saying that people on welfare will vote for whomever promises them more money.
However, Democrats have been historically pro-welfare, pro-union, pro-civil rights while Republicans have historically been against them, or at least not as supportive.
And worldwide, people tend to align with the political party that they think will help them improve or maintain their current situation.
I mean, when we look at third world countries, the rich elite natives are usually aligned with the fascists or dictators, not the communist or nationalist revolutionaries.
