My 4 year old has had the same phlemy cough for MONTHS. I've tried everything. It doesn't go away. Countless prescribed medicine, doctirs visits. They dont understand that nothing is working. It calms it down but it never goes away. She's in the coughing away in her sleep and i hate it. :(

Has she been treated for asthma or asthma like symptoms.  My daughter had the same thing, and continues to and was diagnosed w/a severe allergy to mold and asthma.  The only thing that helps her is her steroids ( liquid and inhaled).  We also keep a cool mist humidifier going in the fall/winter time when it's at its worst. I wish u and your little one luck, I know how miserable it is.

I'll have to get a humidifier. Docs just keep giving her liquid albuterol. It's like they don't take me serious when I say shes been the same for months. They have given her presidone(sp?) but only enough for like 3 days and then it's back to the same thing when she's out of it. I gave her some honey rigt now, I hope that'll give her some rest though the night:/

I wonder if she could be like me and have seasonal allergies as well as reflux.  Acid reflux used to make me cough so badly until i was diagnosed with it.  Now i take zantac as well as suck on hard candies/peppermints to help.  There possibly isnt mold somewhere in household is there?

Does she cough like this in certain rooms, or at school? If it's a cough isolated to one area, or just the house...get your house checked for mold?

My son is allergic to mold. Which is pretty much everywhere. He coughs year round. To keep it to a minimum, he has an allergy medicine and steroids daily and albuterol as needed.
Tell the dr that the presidone works when you have it. If that doesn't work, get a nee dr.

We live in a town house and it was new when we moved in so i dont think its mold. She just coughs more some days than others. If she had asthma would the allergy test have showed that? And if it was asthma would her cough be phlemy?

Depends on the person, I have allergy-triggered asthma and it's a dry cough.

As for mold, doesn't matter how new the house is, there can always be mold. I'll let you borrow my sister, she's so allergic to mold, she can walk into a room and usually know it's there instantly.
