Yes, convertables rear face. They are going to tell you the best car seat is the one that installs safely in your car and fits your child correctly. I know a lot of people in the car seat group are going to say they like the my ride, but join and ask, it's been a while. Best thing to do is to go to babies r us (if they still have them) and take the car seats out to your car and see if they will fit.

I never had one, but my friends did and in order to install it correctly they ended up buying a new car.

A convertible carseat is one that rearfaces and forward faces. And the best ones are the ones that fit your child and your car correctly. Personally, when looking at one, harness height is the thing to look for. Most kids will outgrow a seat by height before weight, so a high weight limit seat means didly if it has a short harness height. Obviously, if your kid is short and chunky that would be the opposite.
I have used the Cosco Scenera for my kids, and I like it just fine. It's a very basic seat that FF and RF's to 40lbs with decent harness heights. DS2 is currently RF in one at two and three months.

My girls both rf'd in an Evenflo Tribute Sport until they were a little over a year old. RF, it goes to 35 pounds and 29 inches. FF, it goes to 40 pounds and 40 inches. Very basic seat, but it does the job for a very reasonable price.
