Ok here is a scenario, that may or may not be an exageration of real events... (not involving me!! and i say it may be an exageration because it may have been an exageration of events or it might be what really happens)

So two DDs about 7-8 years old get in trouble for fighting.. mom says "no lunch"  as a punishment  ok.... no lunch for the girls..

Dinner time comes around and one of the girls is kinda whiney, complaining that she's hungry.

So her punishment for whining about being hungry is no dinner....

so she doesn't eat from breakfast until breakfast..... let me make it clear that if it's true, it's a COMMON thing!!!

Does this sound CPS worthy? or worthy of a Threat of CPS, even it's a bluff?

DH thinks it's at least worth a threat.... IF IT'S TRUE!!!! obviously we do not encourage CPS INVOLVEMENT ON RUMORS... so this has turned more into a HYPOTHETICAL conversation than anything.. and honestly i think it's a horrible horrible thing to do.... but i just don't see what CPS can do as long as there is food in the house... so wouldn't it just end up being a waste of time that possibly pissed their mom off more.....

It's abuse and they will do something even if there's food in the house

I know how I feel if I go 24 hours without eating, and I'm sure it's worse for a little child. It doesn't matter if there's food in the house, the children can tell cps they're not allowed to eat. To me it's worth at least a phone call

These posts make me sick. I could never do that to my children or any child

I would call CPS.  The caseworker would then talk to the child(ren) about what is going on.  There have been alot of stories in news about children starving while there was plenty of food in the house for everyone.

If you're unsure you could call CPS and just ask their opinion and not report the family yet.

IF it is just a rumor, then CPS will not do anything. IF it is true, they should do something. You DO NOT let your children go hungry just to punish them!!! That is neglect since they are refused a essential necessity. That is unacceptable, IMO.
