He's worried the baby will die.

SO came home yesterday after running a few errands after work. Cool. Well my 1mo was swaddled and in his swing with his pacifier. The baby really likes being swaddled and having the blanket kind of against his face. but not over it (duh). He had been fussy ALL day and I finally got him to sleep this way and the first thing out of SO's mouth :

"You can't do that, he'll choke and die..." I let it go, because he's stupid sometimes about babies. The baby's face was not covered at all and he was in his swing right next to me, so obviously I was watching him.

Then after he realizes that he's just in a shitty mood, he says

"Seriously, when I'm at work I get scared thinking that I'll come home and the baby is dead... I have nightmares too because you wrap him up like that..."

Then I got offended and I told him if I'm such a rotten mother he can have his mom watch the baby all day and I can go to work. Also I said that his mom wraps him up the SAME way and it's never an issue then... wtf.

The baby was doing his normal fuss time last night and I was exhausted so I fell asleep on the couch around 11 or so because SO was taking care of the baby. He WAKES me up in my face yelling at me at 2am for having to put the baby to sleep... dude, you could've just woke me up and I would have done it... but mind you, he thinks I'm going to kill the baby. He said I don't get to sleep like that because mom's are "supposed to be tired", THA FUCK? You're saying I can't sleep even when you are doing baby duty? Well then wtf is the point of you helping?

Then I go to bed, and he has the baby in the bed, in my spot. The baby never sleeps there. Needless to say I had to move him because BEDS aren't SAFE for babies (remember, swaddling him will make him choke and die) and I want to lay in bed so I moved him... and failed because after I laid him down in his bassinet he awoke. UGH!

Anyway, for one, WHY THE FUCK would you tell me, as a mother, that you are scared that the baby is going to die?

Two, WHY is it OKAY when your mother does the swaddling, but not me?

Three, if I'm SOOOO rotten, like I said then have his mom come sit up my ass all day while he's at work to make sure I'm doing it right.

My 3yo is alive and healthy, so obviously I didn't suck too bad at babies when I had him... what the hell.

I checked the call log on the landline, and yep, he called mommy last night while I was asleep on the couch at around midnight, probably to whine about how shitty of a mother I am.

I just feel really hurt that he doesn't trust me around MY OWN BABY WHOM I CARRIED IN MY WOMB FOR 41 WEEKS AND THEN PUSHED OUT.

WTFEVER DUDE!

I know, why would someone even SAY that to me? That my negligence is going to be the cause of my baby's death? And my negligence consists of SWADDLING?!

Sign him up for a new daddy boot camp. The hospital should have info or the county dept of children amd family services.

Go stay with your mom until he completes the course.

You poor baby! I'm so sorry. He's being such an insensitive jerk. But hey, he can stick it where the sun don't shine. Because babies LOVE being little burritos and the more light you can block out the better. Honestly, who likes sleeping with the lights on and cold? I'd say counseling is needed asap!!

He sounds paranoid. I get that he is scares of SIDS but that is no excuse to be an ass. He needs to educate himself.

Ironically enough, he works at a hospital, and he has several friends that are physicians and I'm sure he just exaggerates what I do to them and they tell him I'm killing the baby... or something IDK. But him being around DRs makes all kinds of strange fabricated things in his head, IMO.

I mean, his mom swaddles him in a THICK ASS fleece blanket, I use a little receiving blanket, furthermore, swaddling is actually what you're supposed to do.. swaddled, on back, in a baby bed, with firm-fitting sheets... unless they changed it lol.
