Every morning for the last month or so, the neighbor dogs have woken both myself and DS with their barking (at 5:45 am). We are exhausted, and it has totally messed up our schedule.
DH wants me to report them to the city. I'm leaning more towards talking to them or leaving a note.
I am worried that calling the city will mean their dogs get impounded. However, I don't know these neighbors, and have no idea what they will think/do if we just show up. (I met the wife once while walking our dog; she seemed nice).
I am so tired!!
What would you do??

I live a wall away from 2 hounds that are loud as hell at 5am but never once have they woken anybody up.
They are dogs. Dogs bark. Its the way of life

If you are nonconfrontational, call on them. Let them do your dirty work.

I think if they seem friendly enough, it would be worth a try to communicate with them first.
However, if you have any misgivings about talking to them, just call the city. They won't impound the dogs unless it becomes a chronic issue. The first time, they'll most likely give them a warning, then after that it is a fine for noise violations. (Check local laws, though.)
