My niece is 3yo. Today while at my house for a play date, she was told not to tip her cereal bowl bc she was spilling the milk. She immediately started crying, and refused to eat bc it was not "her way" to eat (her words).
After she calmed down and my sil was on her way, dh told the kids it was time to clean up. She sat on the floor and told us, "No. I don't have to." Then dh said if she didn't help, she couldn't come over to play next time. Ensue tantrum 2.
When my sil got here, she got all pissy bc thats "not how she parents" & "she's just sensitive". Mind, her other 2 children were here as well, and had no problem following the rules.
Nothing we told her was new. All the other kids followed the rules fine, including those younger than her.
Am I wrong for expecting the same behavior from all the children?
A little spoiled... and a little bit just a normal 3 yo pushing normal boundaries with you to see what she can and cannot do in your home.
No. I think good behavior should be expected, especially at someone elses home.
