SAHM's

I'm not posting this to cause animosity.

I just want to get everyone's opinion without it turning into a battle.

I saw this posted somewhere else but didn't pay attention to the responses.

Do you think that women use being a SAHM as an excuse to not have to work?

And if that's the case then how it is different from a SAHM vs a mom on PA?

Obvisously one of the major differences is the financial situation.

I know both sahm on pa, and working moms on pa.

Me personally don't care. I think it's important to have mom home with kids but I know others don't feel the same.

How is what different from a SAHM vs. a mom on PA?

Are you asking what the difference is between a woman staying home without the financial aid of the taxpayers vs. a woman who needs it?

Not all are lazy. I'm a SAHM, and we get food stamps and WIC for DD.. for now. I'm sure when I tell my caseworker at DHS about DF's new job the FS will either go down or go away completely, which is okay since this is a good job we may not need the help. Anyways, not all are lazy. I clean during the day, since we live with DF's parents we all take turns cooking, I am looking for jobs (with no luck) and I'm getting ready to go to school again in the summer or fall.
I hope.

ETA: yes, I think some do use it as an excuse. Can't prove it though. But they'll get caught one way or the other.

I was a stay at home mom until last night. We needed some extra money so I've picked up a part time job during the evenings rather than going on pa. It doesn't matter to me what other mothers do I just choose to make my own money is all.

ditto what you said to the other chick.

I have been in the situation where my earning ability was only high enough or NOT high enough to cover the costs of daycare. So, I can understand that situation.

Otherwise, if you are able to work, do not have a disabled child or some other extenuating circumstances, I don't understand why you would rather get PA than a job.

Being on PA does not automatically mean that the woman doesn't work, or at least goes to school... smh

If a woman and her spouse/partner can afford for her to stay at home with the children then that's great for them. Their reasoning for doing so is not my business as long as their family is supported. Do some moms stay at home just because they don't want to work? I'm sure that happens often enough, but being a SAHM in itself can be a lot of work.
