Sahms on pa who cannot work because they cannot afford daycare: Are you going to teach your daughters not to get stuck in the same situation? piog

Are you going to teach your daughters not to have children until they have finished college, begun a good career, and married a person who has done the same?  Maybe those things don't guarantee a person will never need PA, but they sure as heck make it a lot less likely than having children before doing any of them.

If you are a sahm on pa who cannot work because you would only make minimum wage and daycare would take most of your paycheck, don't you want your daughters to avoid a similar fate?  Don't you want them to be more likely to be able to get a good job if they need to, making much more than minimum wage?

I'm not one of those but I sure as hell am going to teach my son he had better stick around and support anyone he has a baby with. I will knock him into next week if he thinks he's going to pull the same crap his dad did on me.

 I do not want either of my children to be in situations that my husband and I have found ourselves in. (we aren't on PA anymore.)  We have owned up to our mistakes and tell them all the time to make better choices.

 I'm not in that position but I still want to make sure my son (or any future children) are never in that situation either.

I am not in that situation, but I would hope that children learn from their parent's mistakes.

I don't really see how finishing college has anything to do with it in this crappy economy. :(

I am not a sahm on PA. However, I feel it is so important that women get an education first, then start a family. The best gift my parents ever gave my sisters and I was a college education. It came with so much sacrifice on their part. My mom works full time and has since we were little to guarantee that we would have an education and no student loans. We could never thank them enough.

i know plenty of moms who did go to college but are in this situation. they simply cannot find a job to use that expensive degree in. heck, my dad has a degree in teaching, but hes a casino slot machine auditor instead. my dh makes more than he does and hes currently trying for his ged...
