Wal-Mart has been subject to criticism by various groups and individuals. Among these are some labor unions, community groups, grassroots organizations, religious organizations, environmental groups and Wal-Mart customers. They have protested against Wal-Mart, the company's policies and business practices. Other areas of criticism include the corporation's foreign product sourcing, treatment of product suppliers, environmental practices, the use of public subsidies, and the company's security policies. Wal-Mart denies doing anything wrong and maintains that low prices are the result of efficiency.

Good for you? I shop there a lot... It's better than paying an arm and leg at Safeway or Rosaurs getting the same amount of whatever you'd get at wal mart. I'd rather pay the 11.99 it is to buy laundry detergent and fabric softener (we get Gain) at walmart rather than 25.00 at any other place, the same goes for anything else.

I married into a family of carpenters and electricians, and they are very pro union. That's probably the biggest reason why Walmart is absolutely taboo for our family.

I could make more working as a cashier at my local WalMart and have access to more benefits than I currently get working for the state government.

Quoting getoesuepastah:

most of their employees collect some form of public assistance such as food stamps or medicaid due to the low wages and expensive health insurance

same here.

If we boycott Walmart we are screwed because it's all we have.  The local grocery start charges twice as much.  Wal-Mart maintains low prices as best they can.  And they usually treat their employees well.

I wouldn't be caught dead in a Walmart.
