I'm bored and this is something that I've actually wondered about. I know both phrases are common. Personally I use "I couldn't care less" because I could care less doesn't make much sense to me when describing something you absolutely don't care about. Either way I don't really dwell on which one people say but I do remember back in high school I had said "I couldn't care less" about something and a boy in my class started laughing and informed me that it's "I could care less, not I couldn't care less" which as I said made no sense at all to me so I just shrugged it off and continued with the conversation but it amazes me that that one memory sitting in sophomore English 10 years ago still pops into my mind every once in awhile.

I could care less implies that you have room yet to care, so if you don't, you couldn't care less.

Couldn't care less...you see it the other way on here all the time!! I actually correct some people IRL that say it the wrong way.

The correct one. The other people are idiots that have no grasp of the English language.

I don't consider myself an idiot because I didn't know the difference between the 2, not everyone was born here or speaks English perfectly.
