Some of the local churches, VFW and American Legion clubs that have a fish fry on Fridays. You can get all sorts of stuff, mac & cheese, cod or tilpia.  One of the Greek Orthodox churches has shrimp scampi, fettucine al fredo and even tablouleh salad.

Our newspaper has a pull out map every week listing all the joints (LOL) around town that hold a fish fry this time of year.

I'm just curious.

I voted other. I don't observe Lent, and I'm a vegetarian anyway.

 We don't observe it either.

But I still buy fish because it's tasty!  LOL

I didn't this week.  We had steak and pototoes Friday.  But I took advantage of some Lentens specials and stocked up on catfish, cod and salmon.  So we're good to go.

Hubby set the net and we caught our own fresh fish. We wound up going out to eat because I had some surgery and didn't feel like cooking, but we went for sushi - so no meat.

I'm Catholic, but I don't follow it. I did eat fish while with my dad this past Friday. I usually forget anyways.

I used Lent here in the poll, but should have probably left it off.

CHristians were not the first to eat fish on Fridays, they were just the first ones to have it ordered, LOL.

Friday is named after the ancient fertility Goddess, Freya.  Her symbol was the fish, because of it's so prolfic.  When the Christians came to town, they absorbed it, leaving off the female and the fertility part.

So ancient Pagans also observed this tradition of eating fish on Fridays, too.  Cool little piece of trivia.

 Me too!

DH & I think the church fish fries are a rip off.  $12 a piece for fried fish or mac & cheese?  Yikes.

We eat it at home. Our local deli has good fried catfish deals, this time of year too.  It's $12 for 8  pieces, a side of slaw and some rolls, I think.

I usually pan fry catfish or tilapia. I'm having a hard time finding good cod, though.
