So I got a box of brownie/cookie mix for my 12 yr old to bake for tonight... My son was bummed when he notices she was making them, she was close to being done. He wanted to make them all on his own. He's 8. So I told him next wkend I'll bring home something that he can bake all on his own, with me looking over of course. I just never though of him wanting to do it.

That is awesome.

My kids are taking a cooking class once a month and really love it.

Such great skills to have!

Sounds like a possible family activity for the weekend forming....  Does he want to bake brownies or something else?  DD is almost 6 and she loves to help add ingredients to any cooking we do.

I agree... I wasn't planning on messing with any of this with him tell he was a bit older. I was thinking 10, but if he wants to do it now then I'll help him.

My kids are 6 & 7 now, they've been doing this cooking class for nearly a year. They love to cook and have learned to do somethings, on the stove with minimal supervision. =D

Def a good age to start!

That's cute. :-). My oldest loves cooking with me. He'll be 7 this week, and has been helping in the kitchen for a few years now.

The friends that I'm currently staying with got their daughter a toaster oven for christmas(she asked for an easy bake oven lol) and she and my son love cooking stuff for us in it. Their current favorite are fish and salsa cups. LOL
