Is a scratched eyeball a big deal??

DH and DS were wrestling and DS scratched DH's eyeball...  I can see a small scratch last time I checked...  Right were the color of his eye is, KWIM?  Anyway, its watering and red and sort of hurts.

I checked on line and one site said go to ER ASAP when you scratch it there.  The other site said just wait and see if its bad or not.

Any idea?  I don't think this warrants an ER trip at all, but just want to double check...  Also, any idea of how I can make it hurt less...  Eye drops?

Call your pediatrician at a minimum.

I had a scratched cornea. The real issue is possible infection. Mine healed just fine, but the doc gave me vicodin for pain (which I didn't take).

My mom had to get eyedrops to prevent infection. I'd go to the dr

K, did they do anything for it?  Like patch it up?  Or give eye drops?  Or just say let it rest for a while?

K, is it an emergency, or can we wait until the morning?

Yes go to the ER. They'll give you eye drops to heal it. It's painful. I scratched mine at 3 places.

Take him to the eye doc in the morning. They can write out the rx for drops. Saves an er trip and this way if there is anything in there the doc can get it out
