Does your DH "baby-sit"?

This is so annoying to me.

When DH goes away, no one EVER asks me if I'm staying home to "baby-sit" DD. Why would they? I'm her mother.

But I'm going away for 4 days, and I've had 3 people ask me if DH is "baby-sitting" DD while I'm gone. Wtf?

He does just as much/is as involved as me when it comes to anything about DD; he is a very hands-on dad. What an insult to dub him as a baby-sitter.

That bugs me too. It's like "um no.. He's their father, it's his JOB!"

Ugh.

No, but I doubt they mean anything deep by using that wording. I would say DH is staying with the kids, or something like that.

This is my biggest pet peeve ever! It is not babysitting when it is your child! It is called parenting whether it is mom or dad.

I hate that term! No he's their dad, not their babysitter.
