Tomorrow is my sons 10th birthday, when I picked him up from school today, he asked if I could sign him out of school early since its his birthday. I told him we will see and I wish that we could have mommy and Justin time like we used to but since I homeschool his sister we can't do something just the two of us. He said that is ok, when you pick me up early, we can go home and take a nap together. I told my mom whAt he said and she said that it was inappropriate , he is to old to take a nap with me. What do you ladies think. I feel like I want treasure him wanting to be with me as long as I can.

My six year likes to sleep with me. I think they like the closeness.

I don't see anything wrong with it. It's a special day for him!!

Well for me personally, I would not sign my child out early for a nap. Especially not a 10 yr old. There are plenty of other ways to spend time together. (referring mainly to leaving school early, not the nap necessarily) I would find a sitter for his sister and take him out for some one on one mommy time after school.

My husband told me to drop his daughter off to him at work so my son and I could go to lunch or a movie

Its a nap. Your son just wants to be close and cuddle. There's nothing wrong with that in my eyes.

Your mom is inappropriate to think such things. Seriously. A boy wanting to be close to his mother is not inappropriate.
