Am I wrong for this?

Ds dad (we aren't together) wants to take him to the beach this weekend (he's never been before). I told him that I wanted to be there the first time he goes to the beach (i even have a scrapbook page for it). So I told him not this time because I wasn't to be there the first time he goes. I never said he couldn't take him in the future. He makes this huge fuss about it. I don't see what I did wrong.

I was once a single mom and I understand your feelings of wanting to be there for his firsts. But...if dad is a consistant part of ds life and you trust him, you may want to re-think your decision to not allow him this 1st. As other replies, can't he take lots of pics for your scrapbooking? It really is the fair thing to do and I think you know that or you wouldn't want to know if you're wrong.

Yes I think you're wrong.

He's his parent just as much as you are. You've chosen a life where you parent separately, he will get some of the child's firsts. I don't think being his maternal parent somehow makes you more important when it comes to firsts, sorry.

Yes you're totally wrong. He's his son too. I'm sure there have been firsts of his that dad has missed out on, and you were there for. Just have dad take pics for you, and stop being selfish.

You are totally wrong! The way you say it is dad deserves nothing, yet seems like dad is in his life. He deserves some too. What is the difference in your scrapbook of his first or your first together?
