STFU, THIS ISN'T YOUR GODDAMN HOUSE! *vent, language* ETA IN RED

 MIL strikes again.

We've got two ferrets. I had told DH I would let them run around the main part of the house, which has hardwood flooring. I went to FIL's bedroom cause the door was open, and I told MIL that I was going to close all the doors and let the ferrets play.

She told me I can't.

First off, her and FIL have been divorced for about 3 years now. Me and DH have had the ferrets for a year, and she knew that when she decided to rent the front bedroom from FIL. So this isn't her house to say what we can and cant' do.

Secondly, her excuses for why where complete BS. Her first excuse was, "I gotta clean this floor." All the bedrooms (3) have carpet in them. She had just vacuumed that room yesterday! So I called her out on it. Then she said that they poop on the floor. It's true, they do, but only in corners and we clean it up every time. So I called her out on that. Then she said that they'll scratch the floor. They've been running around this house for a year and haven't scratched the floors, so I told her that as well. Then she said that FIL would have a fit. That's when I lost it.

I told her that she was lying through her teeth. That FIL has let us have the ferrets for a year now and hasn't had a problem with it yet, and that he actually likes the animals, so she can stop lying and shut the damn door so the ferrets can play. That this wasn't her house, the ferrets weren't hers, they were mine and DH's animals, and that they were going to run around the hardwood floor whether she likes it or not.

I have every intention of telling DH when he gets home. This has gone on long enough.

Ok, vent over. Thanks ladies!

ETA

For the record, she doesn't do a damn thing in this house! I clean the floors, our animals are not dirty, and we were there first!

Do I expect her to listen to me? FUCK YEAH! I own the damn animals, I was in this house before she was!

And you guys are hilarious! You know nothing about ferrets, yet you're going to come on here and try to act like you know what you're talking about!

The ones that do know something about ferrets, you know that they are VERY hard to train. Worse than mules.

MIL is just a stupid, controlling bitch who clearly doesn't think any woman is good enough for her 21 year old son, and has every intention of making MY marriage hell cause hers fell apart. Hmm, I wonder why?

She best be fucking glad FIL let her in the damn house to begin with!

I love ferrets! We had one long ago and it would steal potatoes from the bag in the cupboard and hide them under our bed! i would love to have another! Sorry your MIL is being a bitch. What a trooper you are to live with her. There is no way I could live with mine. I'd kill myself!

I dated a guy who had a ferret, many many years ago. It never smelled and it used a litter box. It was cute and he used to let it run around all over the house. I never saw it have accidents on the floor. Team ferret!!!

Oh hell no.

You're the same girl who lets her baby chew on your husband's dirty flip flops and gets pissed when your MIL takes them away.

Add to this the untrained ferrets who use the bathroom anywhere...

Are you really serious?

I used to have ferrets, they passed. But they were my dd best friends. they were so funny. You are right but sounds like there are too many hens in the hen house. You guys all need to sit down and make some rules. GOod luck momma.

Why are you living with his dad?

An instead of paying for the upkeep for 2 ferrets shouldn't you be saving money so you can establish your own household?

I think it's kind of embarrassing that you are bragging about how long you guys have lived with his dad.

I actually found ferrets easy to train. They tend to go to the bathroom right when they wake up and right after they eat. Just put some corner litter boxes out when they are running around and I bet they will use them.

I wouldn't be happy with filthy rodents running around either. You're all essentially roommates so some consideration may be in order. Sometimes you ask for the environment you live in by being too inconsiderate.

That sucks. :( I know they all poop in corners. That's just what they do. It's not the end of the world if you clean it up immediately. I loved having a ferret with wood floors. It was so much easier.

SHE hasn't answered...letting an animal shit on the floor is just nasty....as is her behavior toward the woman who gave birth to her husband!
