when is swelling during pregnancy concerning?

I'm gonna complain for a little bit here, but when is swelling during pregnancy a concern?
I've had a headache going on 5 days now, I got an hour of relief on Saturday when I went in because baby wasn't moving. Today I woke up and the tips of my fingers are purpleish colored, my feet are huge, I have constant Charlie horses in both my calves which are also swollen, and my face is also swollen. I have serious sausage fingers and toes It's horrible, my feet are so swollen my flip flops are uncomfortable because they are so tight on my foot.
I have an appt today at 3:30 and I'm hoping to be able to set up an induction date for sometime this week, I'm miserable. I'm 37 weeks 5 days today and I just want to feel normal or at least more normal than I do right now...

Thank you captain obvious, I wasn't sure how much longer I had til I was due, thanks so much for clearing that up!

Quoting morrigan914:

Wow, really? Of course she's happier inside, you're not due for more then two weeks. I'm rarely in NC and even I've noticed your baby post, it seems like you want an excuse to get induced and no longer be pregnant.

Quoting TheMommaJessie:

for safety sake I would get an earlier appointment

Quoting blue_elephant:

She is in the perfect birthing position, so breach isn't a concern, she seems to be more than happy inside...so I dunno

Quoting TheMommaJessie:

with you having purple tinged finger tips than I would gues it is probably causing issues for your baby. I wish to God I would have been able to do a vaginal birth but he was frank breach and they said no go :(. Good luck girl

Quoting blue_elephant:

Unless its bad enough that it is affecting baby I will not have a c section, I've had pre-e before (never swelled up this bad) and as long as I was conscious I was having a vaginal delivery...

Quoting TheMommaJessie:

I would go see another one the purple finger tips scares me I was never that swollen see if you can get in with another doc depending on how bad the preeclampsia is they might not even let you labor they might want to do a c-section.

Quoting blue_elephant:

Unless I go to one of the other doctors in the office, 3:30 is the earliest I can get in with my doctor...

Quoting TheMommaJessie:

sounds like you have preeclampsia. I was that swollen with my son from the very begining and by the time I was 27 weeks I was so preeclamptic that I had to have an emergency c-section. I would see if you could get your appointment earlier in the day.

No, to make you realize I wasn't listing every fuckin symptom or thing I was feeling...but you're going to continue with your dumbass assumptions of somebody you don't know so whatever I'm done...

Quoting .shank.:

If you knew the cause and that it was normal why mention it?

For dramatic affect?

Quoting blue_elephant:

I'm tired of arguing with you, I mentioned all of what was going on to labor and delivery when I went in, they gave me pain meds to get rid of the headache, I still have it along with All the symptoms I had Saturday that started Thursday, off and on except the headache which wap constant, but you know it all, right?

I'm also well aware of spotting being normal, my cervix is thinning which is the cause...weird that I would know that...

Quoting .shank.:

Yet you didn't mention seeing spots, nausea or dizziness to the er? If you did they would of tested for pre e. Especially if you have history of it.

And spotting is normal in pregnancy. Although I'm ssure you'll disagree and say its not.

Quoting blue_elephant:

I asked about a headache, not spots in my vision, dizziness, or anything else, I was trying to get baby to move all day before I went in, but movement is not something I needed opinions on, she was not moving so I went in. Somebody asked about dizziness or visual changes I responded with how I was/still am feeling. Did I also mention that I was spotting red blood when I got to the hospital on Saturday?

Quoting .shank.:

And we gave opinions on swelling.

Also you already made the post about nausea, dizzy and seeing spots remember? Well at first it was just nausea then someone mentioned spots and you added tthat. Then someone said dizziness and you added that.

Then went to the er for something you never mentioned and.didn't tell then about any of the above symptoms for some reason.

Now.you've made up another reason, I'm sure they'll take you very seriously.

Quoting blue_elephant:

When swelling is concerning, read the post, I'm not asking if I have pre-e if I was I would put that I'm also nauseated, dizzy, and seeing spots, I was asking for opinions on the swelling, how about you take your happy ass elsewhere?

Quoting .shank.:

Exactly.

You're asking for opinions, but when you get one that's not telling you to run to the er you don't want to hear it.

If your Dr is monitoring your swelling and you have an.appointment today, what exactly are you looking to hear?

Quoting blue_elephant:

So why has my doctor been monitoring my swelling? Please explain that to me, I have a history of pre-e which is why I was induced with my other kids, my second I was scheduled for induction at 37 weeks I made it to 36 and went into labor on my own. None of you know my medical history so cork it already. I'm also not asking for a diagnosis on CM I'm asking opinions...also I know some swelling is normal in pregnancy, but to the point of turning purple...really...

Quoting .shank.:

I was thinking this... I just am not mean enough to say it!

Btw, I'm a nurse, and swelling is no longer diagnostic criteria for preeclampsia. Pregnancy causes swelling, in almost ALL women. You are just going to have to suck up the last week, and quit relying on people of cafe mom for a medical diagnosis. I'm sure you are fine, however, if you truly believe there is a severe underlying issue, go to l&d.

You're welcome! You seem kind of slow, so I'd thought I would clear that up for you.

Sounds like baby will be here soon. I had pre e both pregnancies and both babies were born at 38 weeks. My doctors let me keep the babies in until it got really bad (swelling, headaches and ridiculous bp) and sounds like that is where you are at. So here is an early congrats on the baby coming :)

Call and switch doctor for the day or tell them you feel it is an emergency. I wouldn't wait until 330
