It is baking soda/baking powder. it helps it rise.

Yeah. And the egg helps it stay up. You dont put yeast in cakes.

I'm still trying to get past the thought that there are people who believe that it is yeast that causes a cake to rise.....

I thought it was the baking soda/powder that made it rise.

The baking powder/ baking soda, eggs help it stay moist and fluffy. I have never heard of putting yeast in cakes just bread!
