Looking for hungry people in Texas

Okay my post isn't as weird as the title sounds.

We found out the food pantry we donated to had expired food on the shelves. We don't want to donate there anymore. We would like to help out an individual or family with children just by dropping off a couple bags of groceries at their door. I know that somewhere out there people are starving and wondering if they are even going to have dinner tonight at all. That shouldn't be, especially in this country! I can't stand to think about people, especially children, going hungry. The problem is I have no idea where to find anyone in that situation so I can help them. I'm afraid of scammers, I'm afraid of donating to an organization and not seeing where the food goes. I know most of these places do a lot of good, but I know there are some who keep the best for themselves and give people the crap leftover. I would just rather skip the middle man this time and help someone in need, without getting duped. I don't know what to do. Any advice? I live in North Texas. Thanks.

We don't have food pantries where I live (in Sheldon). My 2 kids and I are in need of food, clothing, and toys. I drive to Humble, Tx every day and I was wondering if you knew anyone who would help me. To sum up our story, I got out of a very abusive marriage and my ex husband burned our house down. That was 2 yrs ago, and we are still trying to make ends meet, and replace our things. :)

I live almost 300 miles from there but I'd like to help you. I can mail you some things and I found a place in Humble that offers assistance. PM me for more information.

Why don't you talk to your local church and see if they know anyone who could use some help right now

I actually thought of that to. That's a good idea. I'm going to send them an email.

I'm just curious, what kinds of expired foods did they have on their shelves? And how badly expired? Expiration dates are added for liability reasons, not because that is the date the food actually goes bad. Just a thought! Good luck!

How old are your kids and are they boys or girls? I don't live far from humble. I might be able to help a little depending on what you need.

My son Robert is 7, and my daughter is 6. Right niw, we are trying to recover what we lost in the fire my ex husband started in our house when we left him. We are in need of food, clothes, toys, blankets, pillows, and the list goes on. the only thing he didn't ruin is my kids and I.
