I don't. If I can't find a parking space right next to the cart return I just load all of the groceries in the car, and take DS with me to return the cart. Now with another baby on the way it seems like I am going to be parking in the boondocks to insure I get a space right next to the cart return LOL.

ETA- kids, as in babies, as in not able to get out of the car say under 5.

I have with my 15yr or 13yr old. But if its just me and little man (3yr), he comes with me to return the cart and we walk back together

Nope. It's my 9yo's job to put the cart up...lol. My other kids are grown, so if they want to sit in the car, they can...lol.
But really, when they were little, I never left them in the car alone. Not even to walk to the shopping cart return.

Quoting Red227:

This is why I choose to park as closely to the cart corral :)

Because, YES, I leave my son in the car, buckled, to return the cart.

The horrors!!!!!!

What is your limit of parking spaces being away from the cart return that you will leave your son in the car? Do you do it in extreme temperatures?

Yes but I will always park next to a carriage return. So I am right next to my car :) and yes I drive around to find one. Never not parked next to one.

I usually park close to the cart return so yes I do. If I'm not able to park close to one, I just don't return the cart. Yup I'm one of those assholes, just not all the time LOL.

When my kids were that age, I'd always park next to the cart return and yes, I put them in the car.  I was right there, no need to take them with me. I don't think I ever had to worry about not having a cart return slot becaus of the day/time I went shopping.
