I am pretty good at the basic things. I have played with some of the fancy embroidery stitches on my machine as well and they have worked just fine.
Quoting P.V.Hawkwind:Read this way too fast and thought it said do you know how to screw. But, not I can't even sew a button.
I do know how to sew...curtains,dresses,pinafores,shorts,pj bottoms,etc...
I learned how to sew by hand when I was about 9 years old. I would mostly just mend things for a long time. But - I started a hobby of making Teddy Bears when my oldest was a newborn - then other little crafty things.
When my oldest two daughters were 6 and 2 I was fed up with how short skirts were getting for little girls....so I bought myself a sewing machine and taught myself how to use it. I started making all of the skirts and dresses at that point....as well as most of my own skirts. I've gotten pretty good at skirts and dressed over the years...though I have found a few places to BUY skirts that are decent-length for my girls over the last few years. (I bought my sewing machine about 13.5 years ago now.)
yep-I have to or else my family would be buck naked or wearing scraps of clothing!!
I can sew pretty well. I do better with out a pattern.
