All the resident doctors...I need help

I have been fighting a cold/sinus thing for a week or so.  I am headed to bed soon and I want to know if I can take a cold and flu medicine that contains 325mg acetaminophen, 10mg Dextromethorphan (cough suppressant) and 5mg Phenylephrine (nasal decongestant) at the same time as I take a Mucinex DM, which contains 60 mg of the Dextromethorphan and 1200mg of Guaifenesin (expectorant).  I need the nasal decongestant in the one medecine and the expectorant from the other, but I am worried that having the same cough suppressant in both is too much.  Which should I take or can I take both?

You can probably make a telephone call to a pharmacist who will be able to answer your question over the phone.

Edited. This is much safer than asking a bunch of mums on Cafemom.

I've taken both before. But I get horrid ear infections with a quickness. It normally knocks my ass out so just beware of that little factor.

A lot of factors go into play on whether 70mg of the one med is too much for you. I can't take any of them though.

According to my drug guide, a normal dose for a 170 lb female
(I put you in at 30 since I had no age) is 30-70 mg.

That would actually be wonderful.  My dd has strep, which we found out today, and she was up from midnight to 2am with a fever and throwing up.  Then as soon as I laid down, the coughing began.  I got almost no sleep last night.

I'm almost 30, so good guess.  Awesome...thank you.  I cannot find my drug guide anywhere.  I think it got lost in the last move.
