Do you hate when people mispronounce your kids names? Edit

My sons name is Leland sounds like Lee-lin. So stop emphasizing the d. It's not Lee-land. It's so annoying.

Edit. It's the strong emphasis on the d that annoys me or when they say Le-Land. Most people say it right but some don't no matter how much I correct them. Watch the video. A few seconds in dog says Leland's name. Notice no heavy emphasis on the d. That's how my sons name is pronounced.

Why did you put the D on the end if you didn't want it pronounced that way?

That's the way it's spelled.

My oldest daughter's name is Schylar and people keep pronouncing it SHYLER. You don't say SHOOL, do you? You say SCHOOL- same damn thing! I know... most people spell it Skylar/Skyler but the actual correct spelling is Schuylar which is even harder for people to get right.

Why is the "d" there if it's not pronounced LelanD? The Lelands I've known have pronounced it with the d....

My daughter's name is Helena (huh-Lay-Nuh)...I can understand when people pronounce it Helen-uh,when seeing it written but we hear Huh-Lee-Nuh ALL the time.So annoying. Not sure why they think it would be pronounced like that.

But you had to know people are going to pronounce it the way it's spelled. If it was going to upset you so much...

However, my kids have very straight forward names.  If they are mispronounced the speaker is an idiot or special needs.  One bothers me, the other doesn't.

My DD's name is Jade and for some reason, people sometimes call her Jada. I don't ever correct them. Its a little annoying, but not enough for me to say anything.
