dh and i were in the mall today, and there were people selling sugar gliders. so now i want one, extremely bad. theyre little, cute, fit in your pocket, and you only spend around $98 a year taking are of them. conpared to almost $1,000 a year for cats or dogs. i do believe we will be going back tomorrow to possibly get one :) *hoping*

-update- turns out these little cuties are prohibited in hawaii. looks like we wont get one after all, simce well be moving there at the end of june. :( thanks for all the info though ladies. maybe well get one three years from now!

through these people, $589. but that includes cage, food, vitamins, heat rock, toys, and maybe a few other things i could be forgetting.

I wish we could have them but they are banned from military bases and most rental companies do not allow exotic pets

they need a good cage with small mesh so they can't get out...little buggers can squeeze thru very small spaces. They need fresh fruit and veggies and fresh water all the time as well as specialy blended sugar glider food. They tend to bond to only 1 person and you have to wear them in a pouch around your neck several hours a day to get them used to your scent. You should get a good book about them and look up all the info before deciding if they are the right pet for you. Also you don't want to get just one they are very social animals and can die from being lonely.
