Child support as an adult

My sister is 29. Her mother is still recieving CS from our dad each month. Our dad will be 69 soon. To me, this seems pointless for him to still pay. I also feel if he is to pay, it should be going to my sister, not her mother. What do you think?

I don't understand why he would still be pay CS.  Is she in school?

He is still paying on arrears. He gets SSDI I think and they take it out of that.

If he fell way behind he still needs to pay that back to your mom.  My ex husband's dad is still paying back his arrears and his youngest is 36.  She puts the money into a savings for the grandkids but he should've paid while the kids were under 18.  He owes that money to her.  If that is the case with your dad, he should be still paying.

Well maybe he should have thought about paying his child support on time in full so he wouldn't have that happen to him.

My ex is so far in arrears, if he ever starts paying, he will be paying me long after the kids are 18. And no, I don't think it should go to your sister. Your mom raised her with no help for all that time, now he is paying her back.

My mom received cs until I was 25... It would still be going if they had gone after interest. Oh man was the sperm donor PISSED when a huge chunk got paid that paid it all off out of his disability pay out! He messaged me on fb pissed and I told him too bad so sad.

They can't take it out of SSDI since if is not an actual income. My sons father is on it and I asked the DOR if they can take it out of his monthly check. They can't because it is federal money
