Something In Bubble Solution Kills Ants

So I was outside blowing bubbles and I notice this whole swarm of ants. I have been getting ants in my house so this must be where they are coming from.

I took some bubble solution and poured it on the swarm of ants...And it killed them.

Any idea why? I am thinking it's so sticky they couldn't move..At least I hope so lol.

Bubble solution is generally glycerin, dish soap, and water. Solutions made with dish soap are often recommended to kill garden pests so I'd assume that's what did it.
