Ds wants a hamster. What is better a habitrail or a fish tank. They say they can chew through a habitrail and get out and others say the tank doesn't have enough ventilation. What's your opinion?

We got DS a hamster a month or so ago and this is the cage we got. We haven't had any problems with him getting out or anything.

I only have one.
You only need two if your not planning on handling them a lot.
I don't handle Charles a lot,he has a huge oversize guinea pig ball I let him go around in.

We have two cages for elephant we bought at pets Mart and have tunnel extensions. She runs all over the place. They might be little but they still need to run, can't do than in a glass tank. And she's never chewed on her cage. But she will come bite the door if she wants out.

We have plastic bins that you can get at Walmart or Target.  I cut the top out and replaced it with wire mesh for ventilation. It works great and you can get a bigger cage for less money that way!  Plus, it's a lot easier to clean than a heavy tank.

My DS had a hamster and we bought a cage because the woman said it was chew proof. Wrong. That thing only chewed on the bars and ended up with one long tooth.
