My daughter has the Leapster LeapPad and my son the Explorer. They are basically the same thing and use the same games. I like those better then all the other handheld educational game systems. We have a Wii but the kids rarely ever play it. The handhelds are good to relax or use in the car or during down time and they are educational and have taught the kids a lot.
my 3 yr old likes playing outside with bubbles and his little battery op atv...he plays on my tablet sometimes but im not getting him any gaming system...our ps3 broke 2 yrs ago...
I got my son an xbox kinect after looking around for months. the main reason i got it is because you cant sit on the couch and play a lot of the games. it gets him up and active while learning :)
*edit* i read your post wrong. my son was four when we got him his gaming system. I feel at three he wasnt old enough to treat it properly.
