i think my husband is having a form of a asthma attack? UPDATE

He was up all night coughing and wheezing but would not allow me to take him to the hospital. He got up twice to take a shower.
He says his chest feels really tight and he can't breathe very well. Deep breath is out of the question.
He got in to see the doc and he just left for that appt ..

But the man does not have asthma! I don't get it..

UPDATE!

His WBC was high, 20,000 and his chest xray came back clear.

So his doctor put him on antibiotics and told him to rest. so he is on his way back home on quarters (military sick time off for 48 hours.)

Panic attacks have absolutely nothing to do with panicking. My mother suffers them and the doctor told us it's not actually panicking but a body's reaction that is similiar to if the person were panicking. It causes increased heart rate, symptoms similiar to a heart attack, sweats, tremors, shortness of breath, etc.

Asthma feels like you can't get any air. Pale skin color, brightly colored lips, a whistling sound, and tightness in the chest. I have asthma, I swear it feels like my lungs are on fire.

Whatever is wrong, I'm glad he is going to be seen. Hope everything is ok.

Oh..maybe I mis, read. I thought the doctor said it wasnt asthma.
Allergies and asthma can pop up later in,life...in adulthood. It happened to me. I got full blown asthma at age 21. I still have it. And ive had new allergies pop up!

Couldn't it be a respiratory infection?
