How do you feel about...

...an adult throwing themselves a birthday party? Not cake & ice cream & a few friends & family, but "rented the banquet hall, DJ, having it catered, all-out birthday bash"?

My SIL is doing this. She's going to be 40, and she said that BIL won't throw her the kind of party she wants, so she's going to do it herself.

I had a very hard time keeping a straight face. I really wanted to ask if she planned on bursting out of a cake, too.

I have no problem with an adult throwing themselves a birthday party.

It's sad that bil won't do something nice for his wife.

What's wrong with that? She has every right to celebrate her birthday. If her loved ones can't accept that well they don't have to go.

Why would you have a problem with that?

i don't see the big deal.

We do "dirty 30" parties all the time..

in fact we always have a party when someone turns 30,40,50,60, ect.

if her husband won't do it, then good for her for doing something for her. 40 is something to celebrate!
