Question for SAHM's...so after your children are grown, then what?

Legitimate question here.

After your children are grown, or old enough to not need you as much as in their toddler or elementary school years...then what?

Do you plan on not ever working even after your kids are in high school, or college, or out of the home?

My kids are little but I have no plans on ever working again unless I have to. My husbands work takes him away a lot and we both feel it's important for them to always have access to at least one of us. I want to be available to go to school activities, sports stuff, be a class mom and all that, I plan to be very active in their lives as long as they let me. Plus after being a sahm for all those years it will be nice to have some time to myself.

Ideally I would like another year off after my youngest is in school (kg) so I can attend school stuff with out worrying about  finding a babysitter, etc.  Same for my appointments and everything else I have had to go around or ignore since I stayed home 11 yrs ago!

I'm going to either get a part time job or go to school. I'm not sure exactly what I'd go for though.

College part time while they are young. I homeschool so I won't work til they graduate.

I'm a SAHM, will be a homeschooling mom. So I will be home and busy for many years. I plan to get involved in community theatre as soon as my kids are a bit bigger and don't need me as much. And I would like to go to university and get a mathematics degree at some point. But we will see what happens.

We are homeschooling now and probably will continue through high-school. If I go back to work or not will depend on our situation at the time.

When my daughter starts going to school, I'll get a part time job. But right now, I enjoy being home with her, watching her grow. She is only little once, and I have a life time ahead of me to work.
